Today,1/13, was the deadline a judge had given us to satisfy a settlement offer or we would be going to trial. Kind of a big deal, right? A trial is very expensive — settlements are typically cheaper. I provided my attorney with ample information regarding my position on the settlement we had received. I offered my best case scenario and then offered to pay the full amount if the other party’s attorney didn’t accept the counter offer. The day came and went. I never heard from my attorney at all today. I called her office three times and left an email kindly asking for an update. Nothing. Total lack of communication from an attorney to her client is unacceptable. I’m left completely in the weeds wondering if this case was settled or if it’s going to trial. I have no idea. Going into a holiday weekend, after the judge’s deadline, I have no idea if my case is going to trial. I hope that I’m being unreasonable and I just need to reevaluate my client/attorney expectations because this is frustrating beyond belief. How can you not communicate with your client about a decision that costs him thousands of dollars? I don’t care if you’re in court all day. You can find time for a 2 minute email or phone call. You know who you are and you left me hanging today. Very disappointing. Communication has been a very serious issue since day one of signing the contract to hire this attorney. I’ve left dozens of emails and voice messages very respectfully asking for updates on my case. Months went by, months, and I was left completely in the dark by my attorney. Not one time have I felt represented, either good or bad, at all. I really hope this case isn’t going to trial. I’m going to need to hire a different attorney. How can I feel comfortable knowing I’ll need to pay an attorney who refuses to represent her client? A very, very sad situation. I feel terrible for anyone else who has experienced something similar with this law firm. It’s unethical and doesn’t make me feel too good about people who have worst cases than I. Please do not hire this firm to represent you. They simply do not have your best interests in mind. Please trust me.
