I hired Andrew Haugen because I assumed paying more for an attorney meant I would get someone who would master the details of my case, provide clear strategic guidance, and actually fight for my interests. Instead, working with him was an expensive headache.
Andrew routinely failed to remember basic facts about my case. I repeatedly asked straightforward questions—like how he expected the court to divide our assets and debts—and I never received a clear answer.
Even worse, he could not get opposing counsel to produce basic financial documents (bank statements, credit card statements, etc.). As a result, we never assembled a complete financial package that would have been essential for trial.
Two days before my pretrial, I asked if we could speak. He told me he didn’t have time for the next several days. I had to remind him that my pretrial was in two days. After that, he gave me about five minutes on the phone before going into court.
By that point, I had so little confidence in him that I did not feel comfortable having him represent me at pretrial. His incompetence pushed me into accepting a deal well short of a 50/50 division of assets and debt.
He cost me thousands of dollars, wasted my time, and added far more stress than necessary. Do not hire this attorney. And since he’s a partner at the firm, I can only imagine how much worse it could be with junior staff.
Incredibly unprofessional service. Embrace your self for a complete disappointment if you hire Andrew Haugen or anyone on his team. They responds to time-sensitive emails 2 weeks after. Very commonly miss deadlines and do not care to remember any details about your case. The moment the retainer money is sent, their job is done. Honestly, you could hire a first year law student and they would have more knowledge and do a better job than Haugen and his team.
This has been an absolute horrible experience!!! First I was quoted 3000-4000$ so I gave them $3000. Then my lawyer never talked to me. I would just get emails from his paralegal (which Cassandra was the only helpful person in that place and the only reason to give it 1 star). Then about a month later I was told that I would need to give them another $5000. So when I asked why? And starting raising questions. Then this is the first time I talked to my lawyer (after our initial talk) and Andrew told me that $5000 was high and we shouldn’t need anymore than $3000. So I promptly sent another $3000. We are up to $6000. So again here nothing about a game plan, or what we should do. Now granted both my ex and I had what we wanted figured out. There wasn’t any back and forth. About a month later they asked for another $3000. Again I was told it shouldn’t anymore then so again I promptly sent them another $3000. Now up to $9000 on an original quote of 3-4000$ and promptly paid on each occasion. Now we finally make it to mediation it only takes a few hours. In my opinion should have been done months ago. We are literally waiting for the judge to sign and be done. And they tell me that they need another $1500. And I have 4 days to pay it. I said that I need two weeks I have given you $9000 in 3 months I am tapped. They gave me 3 more days for a total of 7. Or they were going to drop me. Now I’m not a rich man I dont have money lying around. So because I couldn’t come up with their money when they needed it they dropped me today.
In my opinion a divorce law firm should have a pretty good idea of what things cost. I felt like they dragged this to get every penny out of me they could and when I couldn’t come up with it fast enough they dropped me. I talked to my lawyer all of about an hour through this whole process. And half of that was me arguing about them wanting more money. I would not recommend going here. It was not a pleasant experience. And I will tell everyone how bad this experience was.
