Personal Injury Litigation
I reached out to Mr. Schmitt after being served a violation from the father of my child. He seemed pleasant and even offered me a discounted rate because I am military. I did not mention any financial hardship to prompt him to offer me a discounted rate. There was barely any follow up about my case . Our first encounter was a 15 mins video chat. I was asked to send documentation to him which I prepared and sent to him. When I emailed about him reviewing the documents he said “sorry I didn’t remember an email from 3 months ago.” This points to the fact that my documents were not reviewed . I sent organized notes summarizing email communication with my sons father and time stamped audios with descriptions for easy browsing. As we were getting closer to trial and I began to ask more questions I was met with disrespect and flat out rudeness. When I stated the relationship needed to come to an end he stated to me he did me a favor by lowering his rate . Again I did not state any financial hardship, I was aware of the complicated nature of my custody case so finances was not an issue. I do not recommend him at all. And if there is a reply from the firm stating I was not a client I will post proof of our contract and email threads.
I just can’t say enough about Michael’s knowledge and how it assured me that I wont be taken advantage of any more. I have been abused for years since my car accident. Tbi, strokes and shame from child trauma from priest. This recipe along with a large settlement began years of abuse. I over shared my settlement with wife and friends as I craved love and acceptance. The only thing I did for myself was buy a safe home for myself and my boys. My wife wants this too. She wants me to sign the house over to her as well as my upcoming settlement from the Rochester Cathllic Diocese. She put this all in writing. Michael quickly eased my fears and explained NY state law views pain and suffering settlements from personal injury separate and not marital property. Just maybe she can’t kick me out on streets for not sharing my feelings again. Thank you, Mike.
I’m so very thankful I found and retained Michael’s services to represent me in my custody and child support case. Michael was extremely attentive, empathetic, knowledgeable, responsive and fought for me every step of the way. From our very first meeting, he explained everything to me and what I could expect and answered all my questions no matter what time of day that I asked. This was one of the most stressful and traumatic times of my life and he was my biggest advocate and fought for me without ever letting up until I got the outcome that I deserved. I can’t speak highly enough of Michael. If you’re seeking a Family Law attorney, this is the person that you’re going to want to go with.
