Maureen Cooper was recommended by a friend. She helped me with my divorce case. She is a strong lawyer when it comes to helping her clients but she also showed me compassion.

I am a single mother living on just my income streams, that was court-ordered to use her for a child custody battle between my ex-husband (my ex-husband has taken me to the court of law several times for child support adjustments in the past and modification of custody, etc). I spent approximately $2200 on her (court-ordered fees) just this round (I have had her twice and have had to deal with her 2 times so far). I have had to spend approximately 20k on the defense lawyer this go around. I ended up losing full custody of my 2 teenagers to my ex husband (unemployed married veteren that loves in Knoxville TN with his RN wife). Mrs. Cooper (the Guardian Ad Litem in this situation), was HIGHLY unprofessional in the court room. When the order came out, what was said in the documentation was not correct. Mrs. Cooper (the Guardian Ad Litem in this situation) recommended custody of both kids to go to the dad, but just days earlier she was trying to cut a “deal” with my defense attorney and me for me to keep full custody of my 16 year old daughter and my 15 year old son go live with his dad in Knoxville, TN. I told my defense attorney that I declined, bc that is what was NOT in the best interest of my kids to be separated, nor be up there fulltime. Then we get in the courtroom and the Guardian ad Litem (Mrs. Cooper in this situation) changes her tune. The Guardian ad Litem was was very unprofessional. She apparently still speaks to my daughter and has told several lies to her about me since this court case has completed. There was also a court-ordered psychologist that was ordered in this that fees had to be paid out of pocket to. There was CPS abuse in this case (atleast 5 calls to CPS to me- all not indicated)and several police calls (approximately 4 in one month). The whole process was very disrespectful of a single mother who has worked hard for her money and to provide for their kids over the years. I lost , citing the father met the McClendon standard, but I shouldn’t have. I have spent already well over 22k out of pocket on my own dime to pay for this court-ordered lawyer and a defense attorney. She was the “children’s attorney”, but I most certainly do not feel she did what was in the best interest of my kids. At all. I feel this was a “slap in the face” to hard-working single mothers everywhere (I am a RN and a psychic- I have a YouTube channel called: High Priestess Intuition) that do not participate in drug use, nor have any history of drug use. That do not drink ETOH, nor have a history of ETOH abuse, nor have a history of immature, people or boyfriends that come around her kids. I am most certainly NOT an unfit mother, and that is what this attorney attempted to make me out to be on the stand. I do not appreciate that as a woman, nor a good, human being of society. There was no reason I should have lost full custody. Mrs. Cooper, and my ex-husband, has a relationship outside of the courtroom. This lawyer has taken my son and her nephew to outings on my ex-husbands time DURING this court battle. That is conflict of interest and is VERY unprofessional. This whole ordeal was very unprofessional and I feel very disrespected by a community that I have done nothing but support in a positive way. Would definitely NOT recommend, however, I had no choice in the matter of using her, as she was court-ordered. I had her twice. The first time custody stayed with me. This time it transferred, citing the McClendon standard was met.

Best lawyer I’ve ever dealt with… Did an amazing job for me… Extremely, and I do mean Extremely intelligent in all matters concerning the law… Great sense of humor and literally treated me like family… Thanks for everything Maureen and tell your staff they were great also…
