I was referred to this office from another lawyer who was unable to assist me due his caseload. I sent a very detailed email to this law firm explaining my health issues and requested a phone consultation to see if they could assist me in my SSI denial claim. SSI claims are commonly denied on the first submittal and I was told a good Attorney could help me. After the receptionist revealed she had not read my email, I sent yet another, from the VA Hospital, where I was that day to reiterate my case and warned her that the previous Attorney I spoke to was unfamiliar with SGA income allowance for SSI recipients ($1180 for 2018). After we arranged our phone call today not only did the receptionist want to let me know my information was incorrect she put me on the phone with “the money person,” who also told me I was in error. I read verbatim from the Social Security website and still I was not believed. Finally, “Carol,” comes to the phone — doesn’t even introduce herself or even bother to ask a question, she simply stated, “Ok, you are not our client.” Imagine that? “You are not our client.” I couldn’t believe how rude, unprofessional and disrespectful she was and I decided to just end the call. There wasn’t a word about how each of her two employees didn’t even know Social Security income requirements and yet they are the one’s informing the public they are experts in Social Security claims. Although I have no way of confirming this I would think what I experienced was a lack of interest in my case because frankly there just isn’t enough money to make from this case for this to be worthwhile — and if so, that is completely understandable and within the rights of this office to pass on representing me. For anyone else reading this consider that you are in a dire situation and need help. Whatever physical or mental issues you might be experiencing, you need someone that will listen to you and truly want to help you. This office is in the wrong line of work in my opinion and should consider another practice. If you don’t even know the SSI SGA income benefits, and are telling people they don’t qualify, you are doing a huge disservice for others that may listen to you and walk away feeling their case is hopeless.
